Sangiovese

The nose of our 2014 Sangiovese exhibits black cherry with a hint of black pepper spice with an underlyer of forest floor earthiness. On the palate, the black tart cherry fruit dominates the entry while the grippy tannin provides provides structure and depth to the wine allowing layers of tart cherry fruit, bittersweet chocolate, sweet tobacco, and black spices to be uncovered on the mid-palate. Hints of oregano and thyme linger in the finish with a bright acidity providing length and structure in this medium-long finish. One can pair this wine with almost any Italian fare including fresh pastas, spicy sausage, and cured meats.

90 points & Editor’s Choice, Wine Enthusiast Magazine - This new wine from the winemaker of Sol Rouge is extreme in ripeness and fruitiness, smelling like dried plums and tasting like grape popsicles without being overtly sweet. It should taste really good with slow-cooked barbecue. It's very full bodied but not very tannic, so it has a smooth texture.

Primitivo

A very close relative to the Zinfandel grape varietal, this Primitivo is a rich and juicy, medium bodied wine. The bouquet has notes of fresh red plum, ripe black plum, boysenberry, and brambly blackberry, with hints of sweet basil. The palate is soft and balanced, with flavors of red berries, cherry cola, and ripe plum, supported with a hint of cedar on the finish, with lingering light baking spices.

91 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine - Boisterous berry flavors and mouth-gripping texture make this full-bodied wine a lot of fun to taste. It almost gushes with ripe boysenberry and cherry on top of firm tannins, with a lively mouthfeel.

Sopraffino (Super Tuscan Blend)

This Super Tuscan style wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. On the nose, this wine exhibits alluring aromas of fragrant blue flowers, red berries, baking spices, and exotic herbs. The wine has a full, vibrant palate with black cherry, raspberry, clove, orange zest, anise and a hint of white pepper. Although still young, this wine is well balanced with tightly woven but polished tannins and bright acid leading to a medium to long finish.

90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine - Deep fruit flavors and full body give this wine a lot to explore. It tastes as if it were drenched in blackberry and raspberry syrup without being literally sweet, has light tannins and acidity so the texture is soft, and enough concentration for a lingering finish.

Aglianico

Our Aglianico exhibits the classic characteristics of the full-bodied red wine found in Southern Italy in the regions of Campania and Basilicat. On the nose, this wine exhibits notes of dark black fruits, leather, cured meat and a hint of white pepper. On the palate, the entry is dark with blackberry and black plum fruit quickly followed by rm, dense tannins that focus the wine into a deep finish with underlying hints of black truffle, leather and tar which extend into a long, structured finish with firm pronounced acidity.

Dolcetto

Deeply dark and concentrated in color, our 2013 Dolcetto leaps from glass with a high-toned bouquet of black cherries, blue berries, fresh leather, black tea, and almonds. On the palate the wine is full of juicy blue and red fruits, and balanced by notes of earth and minerals. Boldly structured with an inviting tension of acid and tannin, this beautiful wine begs to be served alongside equally intense flavors like hard cheeses and rich meats.

Top Dolcetto in America, San Francisco Chronicle - Best of Class

92 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine - This is a bold, jazzy, full-bodied wine with little oak influence. It oozes ripe fruit flavor onto a surprisingly solid structure of fine-grained tannins and supportive acidity. Grapy, jammy aromas lead to generous, mouthcoating blackberry flavors, nice grip on the palate and a lingering finish.

Lagrein

Our Lagrein pays homage to its Northern Italian “roots” in the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and the South Tyrol. The nose is a fragrant and intense perfume of plum, violets, black tea, cigar box, rose petals, and dark berries, with a touch of both anise and chocolate cordial. On the palate the wine shows delicious red plum, black currant, mulberry, vanilla, and nutmeg. The finish is long, focused, and classically tannic - indicative of it’s great potential to age.

91 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine - Heady notes of black cherry, crushed espresso bean and spicy black pepper show on this bottling that is extremely dark and thick in the glass. A chalky structure frames the soft and full sip, where a deft combo of acidity and tannins unleashes flavors of black plum and roasted prime rib.
